Loin Cloth
The Yakama men wore loincloths and leggings in warm weather. A loin cloth is made out of a long rectangular piece of deerskin; the deerskin is tucked into a belt so that the flaps cover both sides. The leggings were just pant legs that connected to the loincloth. Yakama women wore dresses decorated with beads, and both men and women wore moccasins. In cold weather the Yakama wore fur robes and hats. Over time the Yakama clothing became influenced by other tribes like the Sioux, and they started wearing feathered headdresses and fez like hats. Yakama women also painted their faces for festivities.
